KATANA Apps operates the KA Pilot Logbook service, accessible at this website. This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored, and protected when you use the service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, use the service, or contact us for support.

• Account information: your email address and password (stored securely via AWS Cognito — we never see your password in plaintext)
• Logbook data: flight entries, aircraft records, certificates, ratings, milestones, and any other data you enter into the application
• Documents: any files you upload and attach to logbook entries or certificate records
• Profile information: name, rank, and other optional profile fields you choose to complete
• Payment information: billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers
• Usage data: basic logs of when you access the service, for security and debugging purposes

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the KA Pilot Logbook service
• To save and sync your logbook data across devices
• To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe
• To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, billing receipts)
• To respond to support requests
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents

We do not sell your personal information or logbook data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all data between your browser and our servers
• Encryption at rest for data stored in our database
• AWS Cognito for secure authentication — passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext
• Access controls limiting which systems and personnel can access your data

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We take reasonable measures to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and logbook data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your data remains stored for 90 days to allow for reactivation or export. After 90 days, your data may be permanently deleted.

You can export all your data at any time from the Import/Export page within the application, in both CSV and JSON formats. We encourage you to export a backup before cancelling.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate KATANA Apps. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS): cloud hosting, database, and authentication — aws.amazon.com/privacy
• Stripe: payment processing and subscription management — stripe.com/privacy
• Google Fonts: typography (Space Mono, Syne) — policies.google.com/privacy

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and export all data associated with your account at any time
• Correct inaccurate information in your profile
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing
